Read it right
How to read a performance report
Four checks that separate a real record from a marketing screenshot. Use them on ours and on anyone else's.
- 01Balance against equityBalance moves only when trades close; equity includes open trades. A balance line that climbs while equity keeps dipping deeply means losing positions are being held open.
- 02Maximum drawdownThe largest fall from a peak before a new high. Compare it with the return: a big return with a deep drawdown is a gamble, not a system.
- 03Length and number of tradesA few weeks or a few dozen trades says little. Look for months of trading and hundreds of trades across quiet and volatile gold markets.
- 04Broker and costsSpreads, commission and swap change results on gold. A record should name the broker and account type and say whether costs are included.
